"What if I should discover that the poorest of the beggars and the most impudent of offenders are all within me; and that I stand in need of the alms of my own kindness, that I, myself, am the enemy who must be loved - what then?"
C.G. Jung
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a type of psychotherapy - meaning psychological therapy - which aims to help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself. It is sometimes called 'talking therapy.'
When you enter therapy, you want change to some degree. There exists an unpleasantness which you'd wish dispelled.
Together we'll work collaboratively to achieve whatever it is you wish from therapy, be that personal change or self exploration.
You might be experiencing incredibly difficult and distressing events in life, ranging from bereavement, anxiety, loneliness, divorce, health issues, or depression. Counselling can help you resolve emotional and relationship issues.

You might feel you have no one to talk to even with people all around you. Supportive family and friends are great, yet it is difficult to talk to loved ones about feeling anxious or being depressed. You may find it easier to talk about familial, personal, or relationship issues with an independent professional therapist.
Services
I offer individual and relationship counselling.

Individual Counselling
Our sessions together will be a space in which you can talk and express freely, without censoring or feeling judged. The space we create is one where you are not only heard, but also valued.
Sessions are £50* per hour/session
*This is a standard listed price only. Actual session rates are negotiable prior to each session.
Relationship Counselling
Couples seek counselling for many, many different reasons. Our sessions will help you to explore any issues that you may be facing together, and move toward deep understanding and connection. Sessions are £70 per hour/session

Unfortunately I am currently not offering couples counselling
Common Issues in Counselling
These are some of the many reasons people have come to me in the past. You may also identify with some of these as the source of your distress.
Depression
There is little that compares with the suffocation of depression, but there is the opportunity to feel happiness again.
Anxiety
A little stress keeps you aware, thinking, and moving. Too much will make you feel paralysed and hopeless.
Social Exclusion
Ever walk into a crowded room and feel completely alone? We may freeze and feel unable to do anything. It can happen for seemingly no reason.
Grief
Life, love, and loss are all around us in many different forms. Grief as the reaction to loss can feel particularly stuck.
Medical Diagnosis
Medical diagnoses are a part of life for most everyone.
Perhaps it is yours or that of a loved one.
Loneliness
People often don't want to burden others with how they're feeling, losing connection with those around us.
Frailty/Old Age
Ageing is something we all do, however, that does not make it any easier to face the reality of frailty.
Sexuality
Sexuality means something to everyone, whether you're unable to perform in bed, or feel you may be LGBT.
Relationships
All of us have relationships, be they casual or very involved. Relationships are just as vulnerable to the stresses of life as people themselves.
